Govt plans to invest Rs 1.15 lakh crore in infra projects over next 6 months: Media Reports

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to award Rs 1.15 lakh crore infrastructure projects over the next 6 months in the public-private partnership model with a view to improve the infrastructure sector and revive investors' sentiments, said the media reports.

The projects that are likely to be awarded include Rs 30,000-crore Mumbai Elevated Rail Corridor; Rs 40,000 crore power and transmission projects; Rs 10,000 crore port prject in West Bengal or Andhra Pradesh; and 2 new airports worth Rs 20,000 crore in Bhubaneswar and Imphal.

The target has been set by the PM at a review meeting on Friday with the six core ministries including coal, power, railways, roads, shipping and civil aviation.
