RCOM, Tata Tele signs 2G intra-roaming pact
Country's two leading telecom operators Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Tata Teleservices have signed 2G intra-circle roaming pact to cut their cost and boost their network coverage to take on giants like, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, a media report said.

According to pact signed between parties, RCOM will use 5,000 towers of TTSL across 14 GSM circles while the latter will gain access to an equal number of towers in RCOM's CDMA network to improve its reach.

Speaking with media, a senior RCOM official said, ""This is the culmination of the company's Smart Network Expansion plan, kicked off in April this year."

Reliance Communications, which owns over 45,000 towers, will now have access to networks of Aircel, Loop and TTSL across the country, increasing its network coverage by an additional 10,000 towers.

Earlier this year, RCOM has signed intra-circle roaming arrangements (2G ICRs) with RIL as part of its strategy to improve operations.
