Mid-Market- Sensex remains flat; oil & gas, realty drag Analysis for Sep 26, 2013

The 30-share benchmark index continued its positive trade during the noon trading session supported by gains in index heavyweights including Tata Steel, Coal India, BHEL, Wipro, HDFC, ICICI Bank among others.

At 12:33PM BSE SENSEX was at 19922.17 up by 65.93 points or by 0.33 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 5895.1 up by 21.25 points or by 0.36 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 19946.55 and intraday low of 19826.99 while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 5900.3 and intraday low of 5864.1The BSE MIDCAP was at 5624.61 up by 8.48 points or by 0.15 per cent while the BSE SMLCAP was at 5477.29 up by 28.65 points or by 0.53 per cent.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 299.45,+2.85%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 584.00,+2.71%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 302.80,+2.63%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 145.05,+2.55%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 486.70,+2.32%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 240.65,-1.80%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 624.00,-1.50%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 330.00,-1.39%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2017.50,-0.87%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 435.25,-0.79%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total 2118 shares traded, shares advanced were 1076, 906 shares declined and 136 remianed unchanged.

Among the other Asia peers were trading mixed as investors sweated out the latest battle over the U.S. budget, though Tokyo rallied as talk of a corporate tax cut resurfaced.
