RBI may hold rates as inflation cools: Media reports
To add to the tidings on inflation, the Reserve Bank had some good news for Indian economy as it may consider holding the key rates in its coming monetary policy review on January 28, following ease in inflation which declined to a five-month low of 6.16 per cent in December.

According to analysts, the cooling of inflation will give some comfort to RBI, which may consider holding the repo rate in its coming monetary policy review on January 28, a Business Standard report said.

A BS report quoted one of the Bank top executive as saying, "Going by the fresh set of data — Index of Industrial Production, Services Purchasing Managers' Index, retail inflation and wholesale inflation, RBI would likely maintain the status quo."

The data released by the government on Wednesday showed that WPI based inflation stood at 6.16 per cent in December as against 14-month high of 7.52 per cent in November.
