India’s CPI inflation drops to 8.1% in February
CPI inflation for the month of February fell to 8.1 per cent from 8.79 per cent in January, thanks to easing food prices. The CPI inflation figure was in line with most estimates. February's CPI food inflation fell to 8.57 per cent versus 9.9 per cent on a month-on-month basis.

The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for February 2014 are 8.51 per cent and 7.55 per cent respectively. Inflation rates (final) were rural and urban areas for January 2014 were 9.35 per cent and 8.09 per cent respectively. Inflation for specified categories.

It's unlikely that today's CPI inflation data will change the course of interest rates in the near future. The RBI is likely to meet on April 1, 2014 to decide on policy rates. In all probability it will hold interest rates steady until there is a consistent decline in inflation.
