The survey report showed that India, along with Australia, China, Singapore and South Korea accounted for nearly 90 per cent of the Asia Pacific region's IT spending in the healthcare sector last year.

The research firm expected IT spending in the healthcare sector in the Asia pacific region excluding Japan to grow by a compounded annual growth rate of 8 per cent till the year 2018.

"For the same period, the China healthcare sector emerges as the fastest growing IT spender in the region, with the highest CAGR of 11.7 per cent ", IDC said.

Countries in the Asia Pacific region whether developed or developing are eying to create a sustainable healthcare system, thus increasing their spend on IT infrastructure.

"The spending pattern clearly demarcates the developing and the mature economies in the region. There emerge two clear groups of countries when it comes to IT maturity. Where the initial infrastructure investments have been made, the spending pattern shifts to software and services. Growth will be driven by infrastructural spending in developing countries and collaborative tools in the mature economies", the report said.
