WPI Inflation trends lower at 5.20 per cent for April
Wholesale Price Inflation (WPI) for the month of March eased to 5.20 per cent from 5.70 per cent in the month of March 2014, a government release has stated.

Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 0.22 per cent compared to a build up rate of 0.71 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year.

 

The 'Food Articles' group rose by 1.5 per cent month-on-month) due to higher price of tea (12 per cent), fruits & vegetables and poultry chicken (7 per cent each), masur and moong (3 per cent each), pork (2 per cent).

 

The index for 'Non-Food Articles' group declined by 0.4 percent month-on-month, while manufactured products index rose 0.2 percent month-on-month.

The WPI inflation for the month for the month of Feb 2014 has been revised to 5.03 per cent as compared to 4.68 per cent reported in March.
