Mid-market: Sensex choppy on lack of direction Analysis for May 28, 2014

The markets remained range bound till the noon session. IT and realty stocks rose while auto stocks registered a fall.

At 12:00 pm Sensex rose 7.70 points to 24557.21 and the Nifty advanced 11.55 points to 7329.55 while the BSE Midcap and Small cap indices gained 0.6 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively. About 1613 shares have advanced, 939 shares declined, and 91 shares are unchanged.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (3.04%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.79%), Hero Motocorp (2.59%), H D F C Bank (2.50%), Wipro (1.25%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.15%).

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra (2.60%), Tata Motors (2.51%), Coal India (2.30%), G A I L (India) (1.75%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.73%), and Bajaj Auto (1.56%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,682 advances against 994 declines.
