Mid-Session: Market remain range bound; Sesa Sterlite up 3% Analysis for Aug 19, 2014

Indian benchmark Index, Sensex were up by 0.2 per cent during the afternoon session of trade led by gains in index heavyweights were Sesa Sterlite, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Bharat Heavy Electricals. The BSE Metal and Auto indices were the top sectoral gainers up over 1 per cent each followed by Capital Goods, Bankex, Power and Realty indices.

At 12:24 hours, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex was at 26444.15 up by 53.19 points or by 0.2 % and then NSE Nifty was at 7887.05 up by 12.8 points or by 0.16 %.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 9257.06 up by 86.72 points or by 0.95 %, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10148.23 up by 100.76 points or by 1 %.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2800, shares advanced were 1495 while 1180 shares declined and 125 were unchanged.

Among the major gainers in the Sensex pack were Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 300.50,+2.79%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2835.45,+2.24%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1352.20,+1.98%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 512.90,+1.79%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 224.35,+1.49%), among others.

Meanwhile, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1090.90,-1.96%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2451.25,-1.42%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 717.35,-1.00%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 826.20,-0.73%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 809.45,-0.66%), were among notable losers.

Among the thirteen sectoral indices on BSE, BSE Auto index was at 16849.09 up by 241.4 points or by 1.45%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1352.20,+1.98%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 10177.30,+1.96%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 512.90,+1.79%), Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (Rs. 357.00,+1.36%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 2738.20,+1.14%),.

In BSE, BSE IT index was at 9808.21 down by -26.17 points or by -0.27%. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2451.25,-1.42%), Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. (Rs. 3445.00,-0.27%), KPIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 153.00,-0.23%),.
