Markets under pressure; Cipla, Wipro down Analysis for Oct 08, 2014

Amid weak cues from the global peers, the markets continued to trade range-bound in the morning session of trade. The 30-share benchmark index was marginally down by 6 points led by losses in Infosys, Sun Pharma TCS and DRL and Wipro among others. According to the analysts, caution prevailed ahead of the start of the Q2 earnings season on Friday when Infosys will unveil its September quarter report card.At 10:14AM BSE SENSEX was at 26265.69 down by 6.28 points or by 0.02 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 7851.3 down by 1.1 points or by 0.01 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 9409.16, down by 16.23 points or by 0.17 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10557.07, down by 0.89 points or by 0.01 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 26334.35 and an intraday low of 26187.81, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 7869.9 and an intraday low of 7826.7.The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1439.95,+1.79%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 201.05,+1.64%), State Bank of India (Rs. 2403.75,+1.43%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 401.80,+1.18%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 366.85,+1.12%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 582.50,-2.97%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3717.00,-2.96%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 600.65,-2.78%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3015.40,-2.70%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 819.10,-2.12%), among others.

Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE_CGS index was at 14089.14 up by 176.31 points or by 1.27%. Punj Lloyd Ltd. (Rs. 37.75,+5.45%), SKF India Ltd. (Rs. 1157.95,+3.72%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1439.95,+1.79%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 201.05,+1.64%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 1097.50,+1.25%),.

On the flip side, In BSE, BSETECk index was at 5833.58 down by -125.49 points or by -2.11%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2407.00,-4.17%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3717.00,-2.96%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 600.65,-2.78%), MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 1074.60,-2.75%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2679.00,-1.98%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total 2100 shares traded, 1057 shares advanced, 955 shares declined while 88 remained unchanged.
