Markets pare early gains amid profit booking Analysis for Nov 13, 2014

The key domestic benchmark indices slipped into the negative territory amid profit booking pressure during the morning trading session. The 30-share benchmark index was down 76 points as investors booked profit at high levels. The major laggards on the D-street included Bharti Airtel, Dr. Reddy, HDFC, SBIN and TCS among others. According to the analysts, positive macro data is likely to keep the sentiment bullish in the near-term. The CPI inflation cooled down in October to a record low of 5.5 per cent against 6.46 per cent in September, while the Index of Industrial Production grew by 2.5 per cent on the back of strong performance by the manufacturing sector that expanded after two months of contraction.

At 10:15AM BSE SENSEX was at 27932.77, down by 76.13 points or by 0.27 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8367.4, down by 15.9 points or by 0.19 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 10120.52 down by 12.75 points or by 0.13 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 11145.61 down by 38.74 points or by 0.35 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 28098.74 and an intraday low of 27911.17, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 8408 and an intraday low of 8349.1.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 629.35,+1.75%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 250.45,+1.31%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 474.30,+1.28%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 916.10,+1.09%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1623.00,+0.56%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 382.45,-1.21%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3400.60,-1.18%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 480.15,-0.96%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 476.50,-0.91%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1132.00,-0.88%), among others.

Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE_CDS index was at 9888.85 up by 109.52 points or by 1.12%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 608.50,+13.95%), Symphony Ltd. (Rs. 1880.00,+1.09%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 355.30,+0.97%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 380.15,+0.62%), Bajaj Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 277.50,+0.33%),.

On the flip side, In BSE, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 10820.45 down by -81.06 points or by -0.74%. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 738.00,-3.31%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 577.40,-3.14%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 559.00,-3.13%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 353.35,-2.48%), Cairn India Ltd. (Rs. 266.85,-1.97%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total 2173 shares traded, 959 shares advanced, 1130 shares declined while 84 remained unchanged.
