Sensex, Nifty End Flat; TCS falls

The Sensex and the Nifty ended the day flat after the large selling pressure seen last week. The Sensex ended the day lower by 31 points, while the Nifty fell 4.5 points in trade.

Tech stocks led the list of losers after TCS warned of a weak quarter. Shares in Infosys, Tech Mahindra, TCS and Wipro declined in trade.

HDFC rallied four per cent in trade and ended the day sharply higher. Despite a fall in crude prices BPCL was down and ended lower.

Coal India rallied on reports of divestment in the company. Banking shares ended the day on a slightly firm note after WPI inflation came in at zero per cent for Oct raising the prospects of a rate cut from the Reserve Bank of India.

Real estate stocks saw some selling pressure with DLF and HDIL seeing some selling pressure in trade. Shares in GMR fell despite reports that GMR Hyderabad International Airport buys 44.61 per cent stake in MAS GMR Aerospace Engg from Malaysia Aerospace Engg.

ING Vysya Bank was trading higher after reports that the company was seeking shareholder nod for merger with Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Meanwhile, markets across Asia fell, though Europe was trading with marginal gains.
