Markets maintain momentum ahead of Budget Analysis for Feb 18, 2015

The key domestic benchmark indices continued to trade firm during the noon trading session amid positive cues from the global peers. The 30-share benchmark index was up by 181 points, while NSE Nifty surged 43 points helped by buying interest in index heavyweights including HDFC, Tata Power, Mahindra and Mahindra, NTPC and ICICI Bank among others. Also, optimism over the forthcoming Budget boosted the sentiments of the market participants. On the global front, good going in the Asian markets were supporting the local bourses with hopes of the current talks concluding with some kind of a new accord in place for the new Greek government.

At 1:27PM BSE SENSEX was at 29317.54, up by 181.66 points or by 0.62 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8853.1, up by 43.75 points or by 0.5 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 10812.47 up by 74.48 points or by 0.69 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 11365.9 up by 119.45 points or by 1.06 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 29336.08 and an intraday low of 29126.91, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 8862.2 and an intraday low of 8808.9.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1331.00,+3.33%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 85.90,+2.26%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1230.00,+1.84%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 146.60,+1.77%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2620.00,+1.34%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2675.50,-4.66%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 352.45,-2.25%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 206.95,-2.22%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 566.40,-0.81%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2243.50,-0.80%), among others.

Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE_CDS index was at 10642.24 up by 212.08 points or by 2.03%. PC Jeweller Ltd. (Rs. 246.00,+4.44%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 431.20,+3.15%), Bajaj Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 229.10,+2.44%), VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 101.40,+0.95%), Rajesh Exports Ltd. (Rs. 175.90,+0.80%),.

On the flip side, In BSE, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 9937.77 down by -3.11 points or by -0.03%. Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 179.95,-1.53%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 591.05,-1.07%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 338.50,-0.59%), Castrol India Ltd. (Rs. 482.00,-0.43%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 902.30,-0.04%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total 2938 shares traded, 1614 shares advanced, 1221 shares declined while 103 remained unchanged.
