Mid-Session: Sensex up over 100 points, Nifty reclaims 8250 Analysis for May 15, 2015

The key domestic benchmark indices showed some strength during the noon trading session as investors remained buoyant on a UN report that Indian economy is likely to clock 8.1 percent growth in the current financial year, supported by strong consumer spending amid low inflation, infrastructure projects and government's reform measures.

The S&P BSE Sensex rose over 100 points supported by gains in State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra and Mahindra, Axis Bank and HDFC among others. Meanwhile, NSE Nifty inched up by 31 points.

Further, the investor will be eying key corporate earnings of JSW Steel, Nestle India and Tata Coffee which scheduled to announce their quarter ended 31 March, 2015 earnings today.

At 12:11PM BSE SENSEX was at 27316.04, up by 109.98 points or by 0.4 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8256.15, up by 31.95 points or by 0.39 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 10583.78, up by 56.84 points or by 0.54 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 11074.51 up by 102.17 points or by 0.93 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 27379.57 and an intraday low of 27159.76, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 8279.2 and an intraday low of 8212.2.The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 286.90,+2.23%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 393.65,+2.11%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1245.75,+1.61%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1226.75,+1.53%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 565.00,+1.45%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 135.25,-1.56%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 361.10,-1.24%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 212.00,-1.07%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 365.70,-1.03%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 379.10,-0.82%), among others.

Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE_CDS index was at 10251.25 up by 156.39 points or by 1.55%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 696.90,+3.20%), PC Jeweller Ltd. (Rs. 337.10,+3.09%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 370.00,+1.84%), TTK Prestige Ltd. (Rs. 3989.00,+1.50%), Bajaj Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 241.00,+1.11%),.On the flip side, In BSE, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 9323.33 down by -3.2 points or by -0.03%. Castrol India Ltd. (Rs. 469.95,-2.50%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 379.10,-0.82%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 178.10,-0.75%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 315.00,-0.40%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 877.80,-0.08%),.The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total 2353 shares traded, 1391 shares advanced, 847 shares declined while 115 remained unchanged.
