Sensex Ends Flat As Investors Remain Cautious Over Greece Referendum
Benchmark indices ended the day flat as investors remain cautious over proposed Greece referendum due on July 5.
The Sensex ended the day lower by 75 points, while the Nifty closed the marginally lower by 8 points.
Tata Motors, Hindalco, Vedanta, HDFC Bank, Coal India were among the shares that dragged the Nifty down.
Shares in Shrenuj and Companies rallied a huge 10 per cent after reports that the company had won orders worth $30 million for its jewellery.
Banking shares apart from HDFC Bank had a good session in trade. Leading the set of gainers were Kotak Mahindra and Axis Bank.
IT Stocks had a mixed session with Infosys and TCS declining, while Wipro and HCL Tech gained ground.
Stock from the jewellery segment continued to gain ground with Rajesh Exports and P C Jewellers among the gainers.
Shares with links to the agriculture sector rose after the government emphasised on an increased outlay for the sector. Jain Irrigation and Monsanto were among the gainers.
Meanwhile, most of the Asian markets ended the day higher, except the Shanghai Composite, which fell a huge 3 per cent in trade.
