Sensex Opens Flat On Quiet Global Cues
Benchmark indices opened the day flat on the back of global cues that were relatively calm. The Sensex was trading with marginal loss of 3 points, while the Nifty gained 2 points in trade.
Leading the set of gainers was Infosys, Tata Motors and Bank of Baroda. Shares in ACC was trading marginally lower ahead of its results to be declared later today.
SKS Micro Finance gained after the company reported a sharp 37 increase in its quarterly net profits. Vedanta, ONGC, Bharti Airtel, Hero Motor Corp and ICICI Bank were among the major losers in trade from the Nifty.
HCL Tech which rallied on Monday after the company results largely met expectations, saw some profit booking at lower levels.
Shares in Hero Motor Corp were trading lower ahead of numbers due later today.
Meanwhile, markets across Asia were trading flat to negative in the absence of major global cues. The Shanghai Composite, The Hang Sang and the Singapore Strait Times were marginally lower.
