Sensex Opens Flat On Last Day of Trading For 2015

Benchmark indices opened the day flat with a slightly negative bias on the last day of trading for 2015. The Sensex was trading with losses of 10 points, while the Nifty was down 2 points in early trade.

Coal India, Dr Reddy's, Infosys and Wipro were the early gainers in trade. Today is also the last day of expiry for the Dec F&O series.

PSU Banking stocks were weak in trade with Punjab National Bank falling to a new 52-week low, along with Canara Bank. Other PSU Banking stocks like State Bank of India and Union Bank were also trading lower. ONGC was trading lower, following a further drop in crude prices. The stock has rallied from levels of Rs 220 to Rs 240.

Hindustan Unilever, GAIL and NTPC were the other losers in trade. Jet Airways and Godrej Consumer were higher after reports that they would be included in the F&O segment from Friday.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee opened the day lower at 66.45 to the US dollar.
