Nifty Opens Flat Ahead Of F&O Expiry; Asian Markets Quiet
Benchmark indices opened the day flat, ahead of expiry for the Futures and Options segment later today.
Shares in Gammon India jumped after the company said that its board will consider a proposal received from an investor this week for investment in the company's engineering procurement and construction business.
Shares of the company surged 8% in trade.
Hindustan Zinc's was up 6 per cent after the company's board of directors have declared a special golden jubilee dividend of 1200 per cent.
Early Nifty losers were HDFC Bank, ITC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HCL Tech. Stocks from the Nifty that gained ground were Infosys, Lupin and Vedanta.
Shares in HCG, whgich had a poor listing and dropped 20 per cent on Wednesday, recovered some ground and were trading 3% higher.
State Bank of India and ONGC were the early losers from the Nifty space. Kansai Nerolac was up after the company said it has completed sale of its land in Chennai to realty firm Brigade Properties for over Rs 535 crore.
Meanwhile, the rupee saw marginal gains and was trading at 66.25 to the US Dollar.
