The Indian benchmark was trading in red in the afternoon session of day"s trade as a result of decline in healthcare stocks led by Jenburkt Pharmaceuticals followed by Nectar Lifesciences, Vivimed Labs, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries and Poly Medicure.
Reliance Communications has slipped after the company posted a 22 per cent drop in the March quarter net profit owing to lower revenue from voice and data services.
Meanwhile, the company reported a net profit of Rs 1.77 billion (USD 26.36 million) for its financial fourth quarter to March 31, as against Rs 2.28 billion in the previous year. The total income from operations declined 1.3 per cent to Rs 56.17 billion.
At 10:23AM BSE SENSEX was at 26650.38, down by 75.22 points or by 0.28 per cent while the NSE Nifty was at 8159.45, down by 19.05 points or by 0.23 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 11360.07, down by 26.29 points or by 0.23 per cent while the BSE SMLCAP was at 11099.65, down by 57.94 points or by 0.52 per cent.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 449.70,+6.93 per cent), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 145.80,+1.89 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 4125.00,+1.27 per cent), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 1485.00,+1.17 per cent), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 988.35,+0.34 per cent), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 769.60,-5.28 per cent), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 369.90,-2.56 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 350.40,-1.68 per cent), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1243.25,-1.60 per cent), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 187.75,-1.34 per cent), among others.
The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 304.90,+8.33 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 449.90,+6.80 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 768.70,+1.89 per cent), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 146.30,+1.88 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 4128.15,+1.39 per cent), among others.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE, out of total 1897 shares traded, 639 shares advanced, 1181 shares declined while 77 were unchanged.
Among the sectoral indices on BSE, BSE_HCS index was at 15257.53, down by 204.11 points or by 1.32 per cent led by Jenburkt Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 421.00,-7.48 per cent), Nectar Lifesciences Ltd.
