Sensex Opens Higher; Asian Markets Mixed
Benchmark indices opened the day higher, even as Asian markets were trading mixed.
Benchmark indices saw some gains in trade, even as Asian markets were trading flat and as the US Presidential debate continued. Overnight the Dow Jones saw upmoves, after Morgan Stanley posted results that beat expectations.
The Sensex was trading with gains of 198 points, while the Nifty was up 56 points in trade.
Banking stocks were higher led by gains in ICICI Bank and State Bank of India. There were reports of a security breach at the banks on the debit cards used, but, this was completely discounted by the markets.
Reliance Industries was trading higher ahead of its results. Other stocks like Yes Bank was also marginally higher ahead of the bank's numbers due later today.
Endurance Technologies which got listed on Wednesday, continued to gain ground. The stock was up another 1 per cent, surging almost 37 per cent, from the IPO price.
IDBI Bank, which saw hectic buying support in trade, on Wednesday, after reports said that four bidders were in the fray to buy stake in IDBI Bank, was up another 2 per cent in trade.
Meanwhile, the rupee was seen trading at 66.70 to the US dollar, almost little changed over the previous day's rates.
