With huge inventories almost four times the usual stock level as suggested by vendors, leading online e-tailers including Amazon and Flipkart are all set to come up with huge discounts this summer. Annual sales shall be across segments as well as brand.

Lined to be up and coming in a simultaneous fashion, Amazon will roll out its "Great India Sale" from May 11 to May 14 while Filipkart will follow the suit from May 14 to May 18 with its "Big 10" sale initiative.

This is the first time when the leading online retailer has come up with a offer that shall extend for five days time. Also, "Big 10", the title given to the Sale offer, marks the latter's remarkable ten years in the industry. A discount upto 80% is likely to be offered across merchandise and the company anticipates an increase in sale revenue of three to four times. Together with Flipkart, Myntra, owned by Flipkart, shall also announce a discount offer on its platform.

Further to mark and celebrate its tenth anniversary, Flipkart is also considering giving ten big perks to all its prestigious customers.
Fashion, accessories, consumer durables, smartphones shall all be included in the offer and be the major focus area for each of the two companies. To give digital transaction a bigger push, cashbacks would be given for each of the transaction done via digital platform.

To make the sale season enticing for shoppers, Amazon is on the look out for introducing deals at never before prices. For the same, company is reported to ask vendors to offer huge discounts who shall then be compensated by lower margin charges.
To meet the anticipated high demand of merchandise during the sale period, both companies are reported to aggressively engage in stocking and e-tailers have met success with substantial inventories.
