Certain GST Issues May Be Discussed in August Meet
GST implementation as well as other issues shall be taken up by GST Council meet on August 5
Some of the issues put forth by different sectoral bodies can be taken by the GST council meet next month. The meet shall also discuss on the implementation of the new tax as per the tax official familiar with the development.
Vanaja Sarna, chairperson of CBEC, said the department is tracking the revenue stream from July 1 since the formal roll-out of GST but its actual impact can be figured only after returns are filed in September. The GST council headed by Arun Jaitley and counterparts from the State shall gather on August 5 to discuss and review GST implementation.
"Different issues will be coming to the table (at the next Council meeting). Things that have been brought to our notice may be on the rules and the implementation. Maybe, even on rates," Sarna told reporters on the sidelines of a Ficci event here. Asked if concerns raised by the textile sector will be taken up, she said "possibly".
Some of the taxation issues as that taken by textile industry players who protested 5% GST on fabric by going on strike shall also be taken up at the meet. Further CBEC Sarna said, revenue post GST implementation has been good and buoyant.
