Iwish recurring deposit from ICICI Bank: 6 reasons not to ignore it

Posted By:

The "iWish" flexible recurring deposit (RD) from ICICI Bank is unique in the sense it allows you to meet pre-determined goals, like buying a laptop, a car etc., and comes with attractive interest rates. A super feature of the product is that friends and family can contribute to the RD using debit card, through the individuals facebook page. Here are 6 reasons why the RD scheme from ICICI Bank looks attractive.

Several unique features

The iwish is different from normal savings account in the sense that, you do not require to deposit sums of money each month. In fact, you can deposit money multiple times a month and also skip payments, if you cannot honour them.

Competitive interest rates

The iwish offers you an interest rate of as much as 9 per cent on a 13-month to 24 months deposit. The rate is hiked to 9.5 per cent for senior citizens and makes it comparable to a fixed deposit from a bank.

Shares your goals on Facebook

You can determine a goal that has to be created for the iwish on the top right corner of the ICICI Bank login. You can then share this goal with friends on facebook. You can create as many as 10 goals for the purpose.

A little help from family and friends

To enable friends and family to contribute to your goals, you will need to make your goal public while sharing on Facebook. Friends and relatives can click on your goal on Facebook from where they will be directed to your ICICI Bank iWish profile page. From there, they can use any bank's VISA Debit Card to contribute towards your goal.

No penalties levied

ICICI Bank does not levy any charges on iwish customers in case you skip your payments.

Some penalty is applicable

You will get the prevailing interest rate that is applicable for the period you kept the deposit open. A penalty will be levied by the bank as applicable from time to time.
