The Kerala Lottery Department has announced the following prize structure for this year's bumper draw:

First Prize: Rs 30 crore (1 winner)
Second Prize: Rs 1 crore each (20 winners)
Third Prize: Rs 25 lakh each (20 winners)
Fourth Prize: Rs 5 lakh each (10 winners)
Fifth Prize: Rs 2 lakh each (10 winners)

The department has earmarked nearly 90 lakh tickets for distribution across Kerala through its authorised lottery network. Depending on public demand, additional tickets may also be printed before sales close.

Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery Ticket Price, Sale Date and Draw Date

Each Kerala Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery 2026 ticket is priced at Rs 500.

Ticket sales commence on July 14, while the draw will take place on September 26, 2026. The official launch of the bumper lottery is being held in Thiruvananthapuram in the presence of senior state government officials from the Taxes Department and the Lottery Department.

The Lottery Department has advised people to purchase tickets only from licensed lottery agents and authorised sellers.

Officials have warned against buying tickets through social media advertisements, messaging apps, unofficial websites or online payment links, as Kerala's state lottery operates through printed physical tickets. Buyers should carefully verify the ticket number, series and draw details before leaving the seller and preserve the original ticket safely until the results are declared.

A lost, damaged or counterfeit ticket could lead to difficulties during the prize claim process.

Lottery Winners Will Have to Pay Income Tax

Although the headline prize is Rs 30 crore, the winner will not receive the entire advertised amount.

Lottery winnings in India attract income tax under special provisions of the Income Tax Act, and tax is deducted before the prize is released. Depending on the total winnings, surcharge and cess may also be applicable, reducing the final amount credited to the winner.

Since lottery income does not qualify for normal tax deductions available under other income categories, financial experts generally advise winners to seek professional tax guidance before investing or spending the prize money.

How State Lottery Winners Can Claim Their Prize

Once the draw results are announced, winners must follow the Kerala Lottery Department's official claim procedure.

The claim process generally requires submission of the original winning ticket, identity proof, bank account details and other prescribed documents. High-value prizes may undergo additional verification before payment is processed.

Officials have urged winners to rely only on the department's official announcements for result verification and claim instructions instead of forwarded messages or unofficial websites.
