Residents of Mumbai from today onwards are going to face 15% water supply cut as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the civic body in Mumbai announced on Monday regarding the disruption in the water supply.
Mumbai Water Cut Timing
The planned water cut in Mumbai begins from 9:00 am on Tuesday, July 28 and will continue till 5:00 am on Wednesday, July 29.
Mumbai Water Cut Reasons
The main reason behind the Mumbai water cut is that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to replace the existing 6.6 kV high-voltage control panels at the Mumbai-3A Pumping Station in Panjrapur.
This 20-hour maintenance work is going to stop the water supply from Panjrapur to the Bhandup Water Treatment Plant during this period.
According to an official announcement, during the power cut in Mumbai, between 9:00 am on July 28 and 5:00 am on July 29, 2026, four of the 10 high-voltage control panels will be replaced In the first phase of the project.
"To complete this work safely and in a planned manner, it is inevitable to shut down the Mumbai 3 Pumping Station for approximately 20 hours," the announcement further mentioned.
However, it should also be noted that Mumbai is already running on a 10% water supply cut since the beginning of the summer season
Areas affected by the Mumbai Water Cut
Due to the 15% reduction in water, the main areas affected in the city will be the Western Suburbs, which include Bandra & Khar, Santacruz & Vile Parle, Andheri & Jogeshwari, Goregaon & Malad, Kandivali, Borivali & Dahisar
Water cut will also affect areas in the Eastern Suburbs which include Kurla & Vidyavihar, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg, Bhandup & Mulund, Powai
Advisory for residents during Mumbai Water Cut
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has resqested the residents to comply with the decision and prepare in advance to avoid any inconvenience.
"Citizens are humbly requested to take note of this and cooperate with the Municipal Corporation administration." The BMC statement read.
