Will the Stock Market be Closed on Independence Day?
Usually, Independence Day is a stock market holiday but that will not be the case this year. August 15 is falling on a Saturday in 2026, a day markets are shut anyway for the weekend, so there is no separate exchange-declared holiday on Independence Day
Next Major Stock Market Holiday
Since there are no exchange-notified holidays this month, the next major stock market holidays will be seen in September or October, where festival closures for occasions like Ganesh Chaturthi or Dussehra will take place.
Diwali Lakshmi Pujan also falls on a Sunday this year, on November 8, and will not disrupt the trading week either, though it will still see the customary one-hour Muhurat Trading session conducted for the occasion.
