Gold loan financer Muthoot Finance saw its share crash sharply by nearly 14.36% even after the company announced a solid Q1results
Muthoot Finance shares today opened at Rs. 2,876 against the previous close of Rs. 3,119.6. The stock slipped to an intraday low of Rs. 2671 per share, declining nearly 14.36% from yesterday's closing price. The stock is currently 30.57% below its 52-week high level. At the time of writing, Muthoot Finance share price stood at Rs. 2879.70 on the NSE.
Muthoot has a history of falling sharply on good results because investors often question whether the growth rate is sustainable, especially after a sharp run-up in gold prices or gold loan demand. So far this year the counter has already seen 25% drop in valuation,
Muthoot Finance Q1FY27 Results
In the April to June quarter of FY27, the company reported a surge in its Consolidated Loan AUM, which grew by 43% YoY to Rs. 1,91,532 crore vs Rs. 1,33,938 crore in Q1 FY26, an increase of Rs. 9,616 crore, about 5% sequentially over the preceding quarter.
Consolidated Profit After Tax rose 43% YoY to Rs 2,825 crore vs Rs. 1,974 crore in Q1 FY26.
The company's total consolidated income stood at rs. 86,948 crore, up from Rs. 64,657 crore in Q1 FY26. Meanwhile, the total consolidated expenses rose to Rs. 48,977 crore from Rs. 38,116 crore.
Basic EPS came in at Rs. 69.72, up 39% from Rs. 50.22 in the year-ago quarter. Consolidated gold loan AUM rose 48% YoY
In the operations segment, the company said that it disbursed Rs. 8,937 crore in gold loans to 4,82,707 new customers during the quarter. Alongside that, 86 new branches were opened during Q1 FY27.
Muthoot Finance Target Price
Nirmal Bang Securities, in its recent report, has given a hold rating to the stock, cutting the target price from Rs. 4265 to Rs. 3000 per share
