Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has issued an important advisory asking domestic LPG customers to complete their Aadhaar-based electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification to ensure uninterrupted LPG services and subsidy benefits. In some cases, they may have to purchase LPG cylinders at the prevailing market price until their records are successfully verified.
BPCL LPG Advisory: Aadhaar e-KYC Mandatory to Continue Subsidy Benefits
The gas cylinder provider has asked customers to complete the Aadhaar-based e-KYC process by August 16, 2026. Consumers who fail to complete the verification within the prescribed timeline may face difficulties while booking LPG cylinder refills or receiving subsidy payments.
Under the Direct Benefit Transfer system, the LPG subsidy is deposited directly into the consumer's bank account. For the payment to be processed smoothly, the customer's LPG connection, Aadhaar number and bank account details must be correctly linked. Any mismatch in these records could result in delayed or failed subsidy payments.
The verification process is also intended to improve transparency in subsidy distribution and prevent misuse of government welfare schemes.
How BPCL Customers Can Complete LPG e-KYC
BPCL customers have the option to complete the verification process online or offline.
Those who prefer a digital method can use the HelloBPCL mobile application, which supports Aadhaar-based face authentication. Customers can complete the verification from home if their Aadhaar-linked mobile number and authentication details are active.
Alternatively, consumers can visit their nearest BPCL LPG distributor or gas agency. They should carry their LPG consumer number, Aadhaar details and any identity documents requested by the distributor. The agency will assist in updating customer records and completing the Aadhaar verification process.
Customers are advised to use only official BPCL channels for verification and avoid sharing Aadhaar OTPs or personal information with unknown callers or unauthorised agents.
What Happens If You Miss August 16 Deadline?
Customers who do not complete e-KYC before the deadline could face interruptions in subsidy-related services. While the impact may vary depending on the customer's account status, subsidy recipients are expected to be affected first.
PMUY beneficiaries may experience delays in receiving subsidy payments or may temporarily lose subsidy eligibility until their records are verified. As a result, they could be required to purchase LPG cylinders at the prevailing non-subsidised market price.
Once the verification process is completed and approved, subsidy benefits are expected to resume according to the company's verification procedures.
