Bank Holidays in Haryana during April

All the banks including Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, City Union Bank and UCO Bank will remain closed on all the bank holidays.

Mahavir Jayanti: Jains observe the festival as the birth anniversary of Sage Mahavir. Mahavir is also known as a Vardhamana. He established the core tenets of Jainism. He was the twenty-fourth and the last Jain Sage. He was born on the thirteenth day of the rising moon of Chaitra month (which was TrayodashiTithi during Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month). Mahavir was born in 599 B.C. at Kundalagrama which is located in the Vaishali district in Bihar. All the banks across the state will remain closed on Mahavir Jayanti.

Baisakhi: It is one of the most popular festivals in the state of Haryana. The Baisakhi festival in Pinjore, Haryana is celebrated to mark the wheat harvest season. The day also coincides with the anniversary of the founding of Khalsa Panth among the Sikh community in India and hence the festival is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm among the people of Haryana. People wear new clothes, visit Gurudwara and prepare festive delicacies on this day. It is not a bank holiday on this day, and all the banks will function as usual.

Eid-al-Fitr: Eid-al-Fitr, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramzan. It is a Muslim festival. People celebrate the festival with enthusiasm and religious fervour.

Muslims from all walks of life participate in the prayers and greet each other on occasion. Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims the world over who abstain from food and water during the period extending from 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset. Ramzan period corresponds to the English calendar months of August – September usually.
