Mahavir Jayanti: It is a state government holiday on Mahavir Jayanti. The Jain community in Ranchi and its adjoining areas in Jharkhand celebrates Mahavir Jayanti, the birth of Mahavir, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara of Jainism with great devotion and fervour. The celebrations vary from sect to sect, and each temple has its way of commemorating the festival. All the sects perform rituals as per the tradition on this day. Devotees will worship the idol of Mahavir. Some of them carry the idol of Mahavir on a chariot and recite bhajans along the procession.
Good Friday: Good Friday will be observed across the state of Jharkhand, and people visit churches on this day. A mass gathering takes place in Loyola ground where Bible will be read. Some people observe fast on Good Friday.
Eid-ul-Fitr: It is a Muslim festival. Muslims fast from dawn to dusk during the month of Ramadan. The fast is intended to bring the faithful devotees closer to God and to remind them of the suffering of those less fortunate. Ramzan is a time to detach from worldly pleasures and focus on one's inner self. It is seen as a way to physically and spiritually purify oneself by refraining from bad habits such as smoking and caffeine.
Muslims often donate money to charities during the month of Ramzan and feed the hungry. Many spend more time at mosques during Ramzan and use their spare time to recite the Quran. Fasting during Ramzan is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with the Muslim declaration of faith, daily prayer, charity, and performing the hajj pilgrimage in Mecca.
