In April 2024, banks will remain closed for more than 7 days in Lakshadweep. Apart from regular bank holidays i..e Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays, banks in Lakshadweep will also remain closed on April 1, April 10, and April 14 on account of the Annual Closing of accounts of Commercial and Co-operative Banks, Id-ul-Fitr, and Dr Ambedkar Jayanti/Vishu.

In April, the government of Lakshadweep has declared holidays on April 1, on account of the Annual Closing of accounts of Commercial and Co-operative Banks; April 10, on account of Id-ul-Fitr; and April 14, on account of Dr Ambedkar Jayanti/Vishu.

Eid-al-Fitr is a Muslim festival. The festival is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm by people all around the world. Muslims observe fast from early morning till sunset. They break the fast after sighting the moon during evening time post sunset. During this time Muslims perform formal prayers known as Salah five times per day. During Ramzan, there will be an extra Salah known as Tarawih during nighttime. In the evening after sighting the moon, Muslims will break their fast by eating dates along with water juice or buttermilk.

Apart from regular holidays, two regional bank holidays that will be observed in Lakshadweep in April 2024 include:

April 1 - Annual Closing of Accounts of Commercial and Co-operative Banks

April 10 - Id-ul-Fitr

April 14 - Dr Ambedkar Jayanti/Vishu.

The second week and the fourth week of Saturdays are declared as Bank Holidays.

It is a Central government holiday. All the nationalized banks, and public and private sector banks remain closed on those two days across the country.

Thus, if banks in other states are open on a certain date in the month of April, it is not necessary that banks in Lakshadweep will also remain open on that day. During these bank holidays in Lakshadweep, the banks are closed. As per an understanding between the Indian Banks' Association and All India Bank Employees Association, all public sector banks in Lakshadweep and other states of India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
