In April, the government of Tripura declared numerous holidays for its citizens this year accounting to a total of 5 holidays excluding the four Sundays during the month. April 10th, on account of Eid-ul-Fitr; April 13th, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; April 14, on account Bengali New Year; April 21 for Garia Pooja; and April 27, the fourth week of Saturday as Bank Holiday in Tripura.

All the banks including ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Federal Bank will remain closed on all the bank holidays in Tripura. Although the significant services like fund transfers, bill payments, registration, fixed deposit enquiry and other digital products are available online for customers during the holidays.
Eid-al-Fitr: Eid is a Muslim festival. It is celebrated with great pomp and splendour throughout the country. Ramadan is a festival that is celebrated for one month. The festival begins and ends with the sighting of the new moon. During this period people will perform prayers five times in a day. Muslims do not consume food from the time of sunrise to sunset. During the fasting period, they do not even swallow saliva.
Bengali New Year: The Bengali New Year is celebrated by the people of Bengal and it falls on the first day of the first month of Baishakh as per the lunisolar Bengali calendar. It is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm by the people by organizing fairs and processions. People greet each other by saying “Shubho Nabobarsho” which means Happy New Year in Bengali. People prepare special delicacies on the day which includes Poori, Alur Dum, Telapia Shorshe, Illish Begun, Mishti Pulao, Cholar Dal, Mishti Doi, Nolen Gurer Payesh, Komola Bhog, Aam Sandesh and so on.
