In August, the Tamil Nadu government announced holidays on the following days. August 10, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; August 15, on account of Independence Day; August 24, the fourth week of Saturday as Bank Holiday and August 26, on account of Janmashtami.

All the banks in Tamil Nadu will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including United Bank of India, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Union Bank of India, and Punjab National Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.
Independence Day: It is a national festival. All the government schools, colleges, and offices will celebrate the day by hoisting the national flag in their respective premises. On this day, the Prime Minister of the country will hoist the Indian flag at Red Fort in New Delhi. Twenty-one gunshots will be fired in honour of the dignified momentum. During the Prime Minister’s speech, the highlights of the previous year’s achievements and other important messages will be delivered. The Indian National Anthem will be sung at the event. It will be followed by a march past of most of the divisions of all three Indian Forces and paramilitary forces, witnessed by a huge gathering of people from across the world.
Janmashtami: It is a Hindu festival. The festival is celebrated to mark the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is observed on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha during the Hindu month of Shraavana. Temples witness extravagant decorations on this occasion. Raslila will be performed to recreate the incidents of the life of Krishna and Radha. Devotional songs of Lord Krishna and dance mark the celebration.
Special delicacies will be prepared on this day to mark the occasion.
