Contrary to July, the Uttarkhand government has announced five holidays in August 2024 on the following days. August 10th, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; August 15th, on account of Independence Day; August 19th, on occasion of Raksha Bandhan, August 24th on account of the fourth week of Saturday as Bank Holiday and August 26th on account of Janmasthami as public and bank holidays in Uttarkhand for 2024.

All the banks in Uttarkhand will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning these days. All the banks including UCO Bank, Syndicate Bank, Dena Bank, and IDBI Bank will remain closed during the bank holidays in Uttarakhand.
Independence Day: Independence day is celebrated annually. It is a national holiday in India. The day commemorates the nation’s independence from the monopoly rule of the British in India. After decades of struggle by the freedom fighters, India finally attained independence during Lord Mountbatten’s governance. On this day flag hoisting ceremonies and several cultural programmes will be held in both government and non-governmental institutions throughout the country. National flags of different sizes are used to symbolize dedication to the country.
Raksha Bandhan: It is a Hindu festival. It is popularly known as Rakhi. It is a festival for brothers and sisters. It is observed on the last day of the Hindu month of Shravan. On this day, sisters tie an auspicious thread around the wrists of their brothers, ritually protecting their brothers and in turn receiving gifts from them.
Janmashtami: It is a Hindu festival. The festival is celebrated to mark the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is observed on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha during the Hindu month of Shraavana. Temples witness extravagant decorations on this occasion.
Raslila will be performed to recreate the incidents of the life of Krishna and Radha. Devotional songs of Lord Krishna and dance mark the celebration. Special delicacies will be prepared on this day to mark the occasion.
