In December, the Gujarat government has announced holidays on the following days. December 12, the second week of Saturday as Bank Holiday; December 25, on account of Christmas and December 26, the fourth week of Saturday as Bank Holiday.

All the banks in Gujarat will remain closed on the above mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including Karnataka Bank, RBL Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Syndicate Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.
Christmas: It is a Christian festival. The day marks the birth of Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity to Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm by the people who follow Christianity irrespective of the age group. People start cleaning their homes and churches days ahead of the festival. A day before Christmas, people decorate their houses with lighting arrangements, Christmas Tree, gifts and so on. On the Christmas Eve people visit churches and attend special prayer session, carol singing and mass along with family members. Special dishes like cakes, puddings, rose cookies, roast turkey, biryani, duck roast and so on will be prepared on the day.
