Bank Holidays in February 2024 in Andhra Pradesh

In February, the government of Andhra Pradesh declared a holiday for three days one each on February 11, on account of the second Saturday as a Bank Holiday; February 18, on account of Maha Shivaratri and on February 25, on account of the fourth week of Saturday as Bank Holiday.

All the banks including IDFC Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, Karnataka Bank and South Indian Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Maha Shivratri: Maha Shivratri is celebrated in Andhra Pradesh with a lot of religious fervour. Grand festivities are observed in Sri Kalahasti temple in Andhra Pradesh on this day. Sri Kalahasti is one of the famous pilgrimages for Lord Shiva's devotees in Andhra Pradesh. The place is also referred to as Dakshina Kailasam. Sri Kalahasti is located between two steep hills known as Sripuram and Mummidicholapuram, and it is believed that the area was part of Seshasaila or Mount Meru in ancient days.

Religious celebrations at Sri Kalahasti temple include colourful processions of the deities taken by devotees. Pilgrims offer their prayer to Lord Shiva for seeking blessings to attain salvation. Special puja is performed on this day accompanied by abhishekam to Lord Shiva's idol.

Deccan Festival: It is one of the prominent festivals celebrated in Andhra Pradesh. The event will be held in Hyderabad every year. It is a five-day festival organized by the Department of Tourism of Andhra Pradesh. The event is held to showcase the tradition and culture of the Deccan area. It is also known as Hyderabad Festival as the entire state gears up to witness the festival with a riot of music, colors, fairs and spices.

Ghazal nights and nights of qawalis and mushairas will be held.

Shops will be set up to sell a variety of multi colored bangles and gleaming pearls. Apart from this food festival will be arranged wherein the visitors can relish on some of the deliciously cooked renowned cuisine of Hyderabad.

During the Deccan Festival all the banks will function normally and there will be no bank holidays during the event.
