Bank Holidays in February 2024 in Delhi

In February, the government of Delhi announced holidays on the occasion of a Second Saturday as Bank Holiday on February 11; February 18, on account of Maha Shivaratri and on Fourth Saturday as Bank Holiday on February 25.

Bank Holidays in Delhi during February

All the banks in February will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including Corporation Bank, Indian Bank, IDBI Bank and Punjab and Sind Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Both the second week of Saturday and the fourth week of Saturday is declared as a central government holiday.

Maha Shivaratri: It is a Hindu festival. The festival is associated with Lord Shiva. It is an annual festival which falls on the Hindu calendar month of Phalguna 13th night and 14th day of every lunar month. Lord Shiva is considered the god of destruction and regeneration. This festival falls usually in February or March as per the English or western calendar. The auspicious day is celebrated across many states in India. On this day, people observe fast throughout the day and during the night they will remain awake chanting bhajans, visiting temples, listening to keertanas and so on. 

Central Excise Day: In February, Central Excise Day will be celebrated on February 24. It holds a distinct significance in the list of festivals observed in India. This day holds high importance as it marks the ratification of the Central & Excise Salt Act of 1944. The day is not declared a bank holiday in Delhi.

Delhi, being the capital city of India is also a cultural hub and a centre of cultural activities. Various fairs and festivals are celebrated in Delhi all throughout the year.
