Bank Holidays in Gujarat in February

The second week of Saturday and the fourth week of Saturday are declared as bank holidays.

All the banks including HSBC Bank, IDBI Bank, United Bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Maha Shivratri: Maha Shivaratri is the birthday of Lord Shiva, and it is celebrated on the sixth night of the dark Phalgun (it falls either in February or March) every year. Maha Shivaratri marks the night when Lord Shiva performed the Tandava. It is also believed that on this day Lord Shiva was married to Parvati Maa. In Gujarat, Maha Shivratri Mela is held at Junagadh where bathing in the Damodar Kunda is considered holy. According to the myth Lord Shiva himself comes to take a bath in the Damodar Kunda on this day.
