Bank Holidays in Madhya Pradesh In February

All the banks including ICICI Bank, DCB Bank, Federal Bank and Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited will remain closed on the bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh.

The state of Madhya Pradesh is located right in the middle of the country, which is why it is called "Madhya", which means central. It is the second-largest state in India, in terms of land area. The state is of great historical importance as it was the seat for the Mauryas, Guptas, and a host of other Rajput kings. On a bank holiday in Madhya Pradesh, you can visit various tourist hotspots like the popular Kanha National Park, Van Vihar National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park. Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Ujjain. Hindi is the official language of the state, though there is a significant number of people who also speak Marathi.

In the month of  February, banks will remain closed for around six days in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from regional holidays, Madhya Pradesh has regional holidays. Thus, if banks in other states are open on a certain date it is not necessary that banks in Madhya Pradesh will also remain open on that day. During these bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh, the banks are closed. As per an understanding between the Indian Banks' Association and All India Bank Employees Association, all public sector banks in Madhya Pradesh and other states of India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

In Madhya Pradesh, bank holidays do not mean people will not have access to net banking facilities. Even when banks are closed people can conduct financial transactions via online mode.

Guru Ravidas Jayanti: The day marks the birth of Ravidas a renowned poet of the Bhakti movement during the 15-16 centuries. A poet, saint, the social and spiritual figure was the founder of the Ravidassia religion. His origins are not correctly known but many scholars believe that he was born to a cobbler family and he gained recognition solely because of his staunch belief in god. His devotional songs are included in the Sikh scriptures – Guru Granth Sahib (Adi Granth). His birthday falls on the full moon during Magh Maas as per the Hindu lunar calendar. He preached equality among the people and explained that people should not make differences on the basis of caste and creed and there is only one superpower and that is God. A procession will be taken out on this day to celebrate the day apart from a special aarti for the guru will be performed. His devotional songs had a major impact on the Bhakti Movement in India. On this day reciting Amritbani Guru Ravidassji will be held in a ritualistic manner followed by a special aarti for the beloved Guru Ravidassji.
