Bank Holidays in Karnataka during January

All the banks in Karnataka will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including Nainital Bank, Karnataka Bank, American Express Bank and Standard Chartered Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Republic Day: It is a National Festival. On this day, the country’s Constitution which was drafted under the leadership of Dr B.R. Ambedkar came into effect and it replaced the previously followed Government of India Act of 1935 as the governing document of India. The country adopted the Constitution on November 26, 1949, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950. Republic Day was chosen to be celebrated on January 26 because on this day in the year 1930 the Indian National Congress declared Purna Swaraj from the colonial British Rule in India. The Governor of the State unfurls the tricolour flag in the presence of various dignitaries. Awards will be honoured to policemen and others for their acts of bravery on this day. This will be followed by various cultural programmes and processions to observe the guard of honour by the respective State Governor from the Police, National Cadet Corps, Scouts, and Border Security forces.
