Bank Holidays in January 2024 in Telangana

In January, the Telangana government announced a total of five holidays for the month of January 2024. January 1, on account of New Year's Day; January 13th, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; January 15, on account of Makar Sankranti; January 26, to honour the Republic Day of India and on January 27th, the fourth week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday in Telagana.

Bank Holidays in Telangana during January

All the banks in Telangana will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including Karnataka Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, South Indian Bank and Nainital Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Makar Sankranti: It is a Hindu festival that marks the harvest festival for farmers and kite festivals for some other parts of the country. The festival is celebrated over a period of four days starting with Bhogi, Makara Sankranti, Kanuma and Mukkanuma. The first day is called Bhogi, on this day people will discard all old things and buy new things. At dawn sunrise, people light a bonfire with wood, solid fuels (cow dung), and other unused items.

The second day of Makara Sankranti is the main festival wherein people dress up in new clothes, visit the temple to pay obscene and make traditional food. People decorate their houses with flowers and mango leaves and draw colourful rangoli outside the house with chalk or flour. Special delicacies including Kudumulu, Karam Appalu, Bellam Appalu, Dappalam, Nuvvula Appalu, Katte Appalu, Chakinalu and so on will be prepared and offered to god.t is a Hindu festival.
