Bank Holidays in Madhya Pradesh during July

In July, there is only one regional holiday in Madhya Pradesh and as such except for one regional holiday and regular bank holidays including Sundays and Second and Fourth Saturdays, banks will function as normal in the state. Banks in Madhya Pradesh will remain closed for six days in the state in July 2024.

Except for gazetted holidays, banks are not the same across all the states in India. If Banks in Madhya Pradesh are closed on a particular day it does not mean banks are also closed in other parts of the country.

All the banks including ICICI Bank, DCB Bank, Federal Bank and Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited will remain closed on bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh.

The state of Madhya Pradesh is located right in the middle of the country, which is why it is called "Madhya", which means central. It is the second-largest state in India, in terms of land area. The state is of great historical importance as it was the seat for the Mauryas, Guptas, and a host of other Rajput kings. On a bank holiday in Madhya Pradesh, you can visit various tourist hotspots like the popular Kanha National Park, Van Vihar National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Ujjain. Hindi is the official language of the state, though there is a significant number of people who also speak Marathi.

In the month of July, banks will remain closed for six days in Madhya Pradesh.

The days when banks will remain closed in Madhya Pradesh include:

July 7 - Sunday

July 13 - Saturday

July 14- Sunday

July 17- Muharram

July 21 - Sunday

July 27 - Sunday

July 28 - Saturday

Apart from national holidays, Madhya Pradesh also has regional bank holidays. Thus, if banks in other states are open on a certain date banks in Madhya Pradesh don't need to also remain open on that day. During these bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh, the banks are closed. As per an understanding between the Indian Banks' Association and All India Bank Employees Association, all public sector banks in Madhya Pradesh and other states of India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

In Madhya Pradesh, bank holidays do not mean people will not have access to net banking facilities. Even when banks are closed people can conduct financial transactions via online mode.

During these two days, there will be no banking transactions at the branch level across all the banks in Madhya Pradesh. All the banks including Punjab National Bank, Nainital Bank, HDFC Bank, Vijaya Bank, and Syndicate Bank will remain closed during these two days.

Muharram: It is a Muslim festival. It is considered as the first month of the Islamic calendar. People observe fast on this day. People begin mourning and beating starting from the first night of Muharram and this will continue on for the next ten days. The tenth day of Muharram is known as Ashura. It is one of the major festivals of Muslims. The festival is celebrated in remembrance of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain. Muharram is also the first month of the Islamic New Year out of the four sacred months as mentioned in “Quran”.
