Bank Holidays in Chhattisgarh during June

The second week and the fourth week of Saturday are bank holidays in India. There will be no banking transactions on these days at branches across the country. Banks including IDBI Bank, Axis Bank, Bandhan Bank, and Dhanlaxmi Bank will remain closed during these two days.

Vat Savitri Vrat: Vat Savitri Vrat is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the country. The puja is performed to pay respect to Sati Savitri's determination and devotion to bringing her husband back to life. She managed to plead Lord of Death – Yama, to give life to her husband by her sheer devotion.

On this day, married women observe rituals like, they wake up early in the morning, take bath, observing fast and wearing new clothes. They apply vermilion on their foreheads and perform various rituals. Rice, water, wet pulses, bananas, and fruits will be offered as bhog. After completion of the puja, they break the fast and consume bhog as prasad.

Bakrid: Eid–ul-Adha is also called as Bakrid. The day is celebrated to honour Prophet Abraham. It is believed that Abraham was a great devotee of God and he was tested for the same. He was asked to sacrifice his only son. Abraham or Ibrahim followed the command of God and was ready to sacrifice his son. Later, God intervened and during the act, a lamb was sacrificed instead of Ibrahim’s son. The day is marked by sacrificing an animal or lamb and is divided into three parts. One share is kept for the family and the remaining will be shared with the poor and needy people.
