In June, the government of Uttar Pradesh declared three bank holidays for the residents of the state. On June 8th, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; June 17th, on account of Bakri-Eid and on June 22nd, the fourth week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday in Uttar Pradesh.

Bakrid: Eid–ul-Adha is also called as Bakrid. The day is celebrated to honour Prophet Abraham. It is believed that Abraham was a great devotee of God and he was tested for the same. He was asked to sacrifice his only son. Abraham or Ibrahim followed the command of God and was ready to sacrifice his son. Later, God intervened and during the act, a lamb was sacrificed instead of Ibrahim’s son. The day is marked by sacrificing an animal or lamb and is divided into three parts.
