Holi: The festival of colours, is celebrated with great fanfare in the state of Gujarat. Falling on the full moon day in the month of Phalguna, Holi marks the agricultural season of the Rabi crop. It is a state government holiday.
The festival is marked with a sprinkling of coloured water and applying gulal or colour to each other. Bonfire is lit in the main squares of the villages, localities, and colonies. People gather together and lit a bonfire, which is symbolic of the victory of good over evil. They sing and dance along after lighting the bonfire.
Holi is a harvest festival; it marks the end of winter. Dhuleti, which is celebrated a day after Holi, involves fasting, feasting and throwing colour and water on each other. Holi is one of the most important festivals for tribals of Gujarat.
Shri Ram Navami: Shri Ram Navami is celebrated to mark the birthday of Lord Ram. The festival is celebrated with great pomp and splendour. People throng to nearby temples dedicated to Lord Ram, from early morning till late night on this day.
