Bank Holidays in Madhya Pradesh during March

Except for gazetted holidays, banks are not the same across all the states in India. If Banks in Madhya Pradesh are closed on one particular day it does not mean banks are also closed in other parts of the country.

All the banks including Axis Bank, Federal Bank, SBI, Bandhan Bank, and HDFC, will remain closed on the bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh.

The state of Madhya Pradesh is located right in the middle of the country, which is why it is called "Madhya", which means central. It is the second-largest state in India, in terms of land area. The state is of great historical importance as it was the seat for the Mauryas, Guptas, and a host of other Rajput kings. On a bank holiday in Madhya Pradesh, you can visit various tourist hotspots like the popular Kanha National Park, Van Vihar National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park. Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Ujjain. Hindi is the official language of the state, though there is a significant number of people who also speak Marathi.

Apart from regular holidays, two regional bank holidays that will be observed in Madhya Pradesh in March 2024 include:

March 8 - Shivarathri

March 25- Holi

March 29 - Good Friday

The second week and the fourth week of Saturdays are declared as Bank Holidays. It is a Central government holiday. All the nationalized banks, and public and private sector banks in Madhya Pradesh remain closed on those two days across the country.

Thus, if banks in other states are open on a certain date in the month of March, it is not necessary that banks in Madhya Pradesh will also remain open on that day. During these bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh, the banks are closed. As per an understanding between the Indian Banks' Association and All India Bank Employees Association, all public sector banks in Madhya Pradesh and other states of India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

In Madhya Pradesh, bank holidays do not mean people will not have access to net banking facilities. Even when banks are closed people can conduct financial transactions via online mode.
