In May, banks in Meghalaya will remain closed for more than 5 days. Apart from regular bank holidays i..e Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays, banks in Meghalaya will remain closed on May 1 on account of May Day.

Apart from gazetted holidays as mentioned in the RBI Holiday calendar, there are several regional holidays when banks remain closed in several states. Bank holidays are not the same everywhere and differ from one state to another. For example, if May 1 is a bank holiday for Meghalaya it does not mean banks in other states will also remain closed on this date.

There are only three gazetted bank holidays in Meghalaya, including Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). These holidays are fixed by the RBI and are observed by all the private and public banks in India.

On a bank holiday in Meghalaya, you can visit several tourist places in the state like Nohakalikai Falls, Umiam Lake, Mawlynnong Village, Living Root Bridges, Laitlum Canyon, Dawki River, Cherrapunji, Mawsynram, Elephant Falls, Mawphlang Sacred Forest, Seven Sisters Falls.

Star attractions in the state are its waterfalls, caves, rainforests, hill stations, and a lot more. Numerous Meghalaya tourist places are well-known all over the world as it boasts some of the most spectacular waterfalls like Nohkalikai Falls, Elephant Falls, and Mawlynnong Falls; the longest caves like Krem Liat Prah and Mawsmai Caves; and the wettest places in the world like Cherrapunji and Mawsynram.

Bank Holidays Meghalaya In the Month of May 2024

All the banks in Meghalaya will remain closed for almost five days in the month of May. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including Axis Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, City Union Bank, and Indian Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

In May, banks in Meghalaya will remain closed for Six days, These include:

May 1- May Day (Wednesday)

May 11- Saturday

May 12 - Sunday

May 19- Sunday

May 25- Saturday

May 26- Sunday
