In November, the Jharkhand government announced holidays on the following days. November 11, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; November 12, on account of Diwali; November 20, on account of Chhath Puja; November 25, the fourth week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday and November 27, on account of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Bank Holidays in Jharkhand during November

All the banks in Jharkhand will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including Punjab & Sind Bank, IDFC Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and Citi Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Diwali: It is a Hindu festival. It is also known as the Festival of Lights. The celebrations of the festival start on Agyaras, which is two days prior to Dhanteras. On this day people start preparations for the main festival by cleaning their homes and painting the houses ahead of the festival. People celebrate the festival by drawing rangoli outside their house to welcome the goddess of wealth – Lakshmi, exchange gifts, wear new clothes, decorate homes with diyas and spend time with family and friends. Special delicacies like Anarasa and Khurmi will be prepared to mark the occasion.

Chhath Puja: It is a Hindu festival. The festival is dedicated to Lord Sun and his sister to thank them for bestowing life on earth and granting people's wishes. The rituals associated with the festival are rigorous and are usually observed over four days. The practices of Chhath Puja include fasting, holy bathing, abstaining from drinking water, standing in water for long hours and offering arghya to the rising and setting sun. People who observe vrat will maintain to eat only home-cooked vegetarian food and abstain from eating onion and garlic during the four days of Chhath Puja.

Special delicacies like Bottle Gourd Sabzi, Thekua, kheer, rice laddu, Raisyaw, Green Chana Masala, Puris, Kasar and so on.
