Deepavali: It is a Hindu festival. The festival is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Here the festival is observed a day prior to the New Moon Day as per the Malayalam month of Thulum. It is the time when the Sun enters the Thula house (Libra) which signifies commerce and hence the festival is associated with the Goddess of Wealth. The festival of light helps in dispelling the darkness and brings in knowledge. The day begins with a ritualistic oil bath which will be followed by sumptuous meal and lightning of lamps and bursting of crackers in the evening.
