In November 2024, banks will remain closed for almost six days in Maharashtra. Apart from regular bank holidays i..e Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays, there are two regional holidays in Maharashtra on account of Birsa Munda Jayanti and Guru Nanak’s Birthday on November 15.

Apart from regional holidays, Maharashtra has regional holidays. Thus, if banks in other states are open on a certain date it is not necessary that banks in Maharashtra will also remain open on that day. During these bank holidays in Maharashtra, the banks are closed. As per an understanding between the Indian Banks' Association and All India Bank Employees Association, all public sector banks in Maharashtra and other states of India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

In Maharashtra, bank holidays do not mean people will not have access to net banking facilities. Even when banks are closed people can conduct financial transactions via online mode.

All the banks in Maharashtra will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning these days. All the banks including Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, Dena Bank, and Corporation Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Guru Nanak Jayanthi: It is a Sikh festival. The day marks the birth of the first Sikh guru – Guru Nanak. The gurus in Sikhs are responsible for shaping the beliefs of the Sikhs. Their birthdays are also called Gurpurab; on this day, people offer prayers in Gurudwaras. The celebrations start off as early as 4 am in the morning. The period between 4 am to 5 am is considered Amrit Vela on the day of Gurupurab. It starts with the singing of Asaa-ki-vaar, followed by Katha and kirtan, and Langars. Night prayers will be observed in some gurudwaras after sunset Rehras are recited followed by Kirtan which will be held till late at night. The singing of Gurbani starts at around 1:20 am which is considered the actual time of birth of Guru Nanak, the celebrations end at about 2 am.
